Permission to Play
In my soul, I am still that small child who did not care about anything else but the beautiful colors of a rainbow. ~Papiha Ghosh
Permission to Play. I just feel the freedom in those words! I hope you'll give yourself permission to play in paint a lot this year. I get asked the question a lot "how do you make painting look so easy? and how did you find your style?" Basically my answer is to play in paint every day and embrace "accidents". That is it. Easier said than done, maybe....but I believe if you love the process of painting and really give yourself permission to play, magic happens. You get lost in the process and time seems to slip away.
Class begins February 1st, 2015. Sign up anytime.

Man is most nearly himself when he achieves the seriousness of a child at play. ~Heraclitus
I have to tell you, I haven't had this much fun in an online class in 5 years. And I have taken approximately 10-12 online classes. I feel like I am finally painting "raw" and free like I have always wanted to. I have been tight, and haven't been able to loosen up, and this class, FINALLY is getting me there. I love the simplicity of black and white and a little color. I love the imperfections of the faces you have taught me how to create. - C. Thomas
Mindy's classes have taught me not to be too restraining....I have opened up to free flowing movement, not over-thinking, moving way outside my comfort zone and actually really enjoying myself...definitely letting go of perfection!!! Thank you Mindy for allowing me to grow in so many different directions within a safe and friendly community!!! - D. Giles
Mindy is a gentle, nurturing guide who will encourage and inspire. Even if you've never painted or drawn you will find yourself delighted by what your own hands can create. Mindy's classes are more than just tutorial videos, you will find her heart and spirit around every corner and bend. You will not only learn and want to learn more but you will also be touched by her caring spirit. Mindy does more than teach, she reaches for your hands, gives you a tender tug and invites you to explore your own talents and even more the joy you can find in your own heart on a creative journey. - S. LaFond
I can't thank you enough for sharing your talent with others....me....through your classes. I take several of them. They are inspiring, educational, productive and FUN!!!!! - A. Green
There is something irresistible about Mindy Lacefield, her art, and her classes, and I think it's the sincerity and gentleness that shine through all of these. If you are looking to be guided and helped into letting go and creating something that is spontaneous and surprising, then you should take one of her online classes, where you will be taught about the supplies you will use and the techniques you will need, in the most natural way possible. - A. M. Stone
Mindy's primitive portraits classes are so inspiring and have opened me up to a new way of creating. Her lessons are simple and easy to follow. Her encouragement and support throughout the classes is something not easily found but is what makes her so special. Learning to let go and create more intuitively and raw is something I have been longing for in my artwork. Her classes are just what I needed to take my work to the next level! If you have never taken a class with Mindy I highly recommend doing so! You will love it! - C. Bueti

Big eyed girls ....Mindy Style
So if you haven't seen the movie, Big Eyes....I highly encourage you to go! It will so inspire you, especially if you are a painter. I have been dreaming of painting these eyes every night. There has been some sort of awakening that I really can't explain.
I have even surprised my Primitive Portraits 3 students with a how to paint a large eyed girl....Mindy style. I of course did not want to copy Mrs. Keane's magical work but who cannot be inspired by such mystery deep set in those eyes. They truly hold something formidable and unexplainable. That is THE reason I love art so much. It has such a power to move, to awaken, yet bring mystery and intrigue.
If you haven't signed up for Primitive Portraits 3 yet, you can still do so ---->> HERE
Here is the project that I'll be teaching you. Dotty.
