Be Still and know that I Am God. - Psalm 46:10
"Stillness is the language of God. Everything else is just a bad translation." - Eckhart Tolle
Awakening
He speaks to me through stillness.
His voice not heard but felt.
A power of oneness flowing through me.
Living in the NOW, that is my gift.
This "now" has no room for the past
nor the future.
It has no room for guilt or should haves.
This now has the power to consume all the sadness....
all the brokenness.
Until it withers under the sun.
The smallest speck of light can now swallow up
galaxies of darkness.
"To become rooted in the aliveness and fullness of the present -that is to lead a spiritual life." - Eckhart Tolle

Broken wing
My first memory was when I was probably 3 or 4. I was in the bathroom standing on a chair brushing my teeth. I remember my reflection. It stared back at me in disbelief and fear. I kept brushing. The chaos and fighting then came behind me. I feared falling off the chair. Maybe I was bumped in the process.
By the time I was 6, I knew a life that I didn't want. I had a nerf soccer ball and played on the neighbor's basketball goal. I taught myself to shoot. I gained my strength and moved up to a real basketball. I had a passion for something. I had an outlet. My plan was to play basketball in college and leave the life of screaming, chaos, drama, and negativity.
At 8, my little sister was born. I had a new reason for living. My happiness grew and I began taking on responsibilities that no 8 year old should have. It didn't matter. I had to be the grown up. To survive and cope.....I had to do this.
Here I am 30 years later, and the chaos and drama no longer have it's power over me. I am free of it. I have the power to release it with writing and painting. I can come here and send it out into the universe until it begins falling to the earth and is consumed by the atmosphere.
Beautiful obliteration!
seeking somewhere to rest for a while, it's molecules break loose
the matter of its makeup all of a sudden make no sense.
the reality is no longer held together by turmoil and verbal abuse
My broken wing has healed.
stitched together by freedom. by love.
lifted up by forgiveness.
I soar higher than before.
I rise up.
My eyes transfixed on my own blue sky.
I awake to renewal.
I awake to the sun shining brightly
in my window reminding me of
the magnificence of nature.
This is the life I choose.
"With a broken wing, she still sings.......Man you outta see me fly!"

Art Journaling and a video
I am so thrilled to announce that I am the cover artist for the Spring addition of Art Journaling magazine!!
About 3 weeks ago I saw a coyote run through my front yard. The timing was utterly perfect.
Then, the same night, I woke up and noticed the full moon shining so bright and looked outside. I saw what I thought was the same coyote but as my eyes adjusted it was the legs of deer feasting on clover. perfection. I then knew I wanted to capture this painting that was in my head. I hope you enjoy.
I have truly been inspired by the inspiring, Anne Patay. please check out her work.
I have honestly not been the same since!!

Happiness is an acquired taste
There is something about today. I can't put my finger on it. I'm feeling very raw. Maybe its due to some writing and releasing that I've been doing. Maybe its because as Spring arrives, its still very winter here. Maybe the coyote that run through the yard at a very particular time while I was writing brought me closer into my core of being. I feel nostalgic for my younger years, yet I'm so thankful to be in this less-chaotic existence.
I'll admit, when I first went out on my own, married my husband and didn't have all the drama of home.....it felt foreign. It felt nice. I then realized I was experiencing happy. A happy, uneventful, calm life. I suppose I can almost understand when people get caught up in a life of chaos, destruction, and negativity that its hard to break the cycle. There may be some that continue down that road because that is the only WAY of being for them. I'm not saying I broke it gracefully. nope. I invented chaos. I picked fights. I believe I didn't deserve the life I was living. The only way I knew to exist was in a life of turmoil......all the while stating loudly in my soul that it wasn't what I wanted at all. Why must we invite and embrace this low energy? It serves no one, especially not you.
Leave it behind and feel happiness run all over your being. Get out into nature and yell into your journal. Allow it to rest on the shoulders of a higher Power. Get used to the foreign feeling of happiness. I promise you, you will grow to love it. Happiness is an acquired taste. Give it a chance.

Clarity
The moment everything becomes simple.
Clarity.
To look outside. see the deer lounging on the ground.
I think they somehow sense my presence.
All I want is to be in this moment. Can I capture just
a bit more? All I know is that the waking moments
of poodle yawns and deer lounging are exactly
where I want to be. I want to drink from this elixir
of life. Of nothing else. I need nothing else.
This is me. Hair askew. torn pants from young poodle
teeth. a paint splattered winnie the pooh sweatshirt.....
It became clear today. So clear.
And I continue to work on my clarity. to become closer to
God through simple moments. I want to achieve oneness.
Oneness with my Creator. Oneness with mankind and all
the animals. That is my wish.

Jane Davenport Stencil play
Jane and the lovely folks at artist cellar asked me to preview and play with some of their newest stencils. Of course, I was jumping up and down going crazy because I have always had an art crush on Jane Davenport. I met Jane last year at Teesha's PLAY retreat. She is magnetizing! She is an absolute rock star. And I pretty much want to BE her.
anyhooo back to the stencils. My favorite ones are the profile and forward facing stencils but they are all pretty spectacular. What I adore about these stencils is that it gives you a perfect guide to springboard into painting a face. You can take them into so many directions. I've always had trouble painting profile faces but with this little jewel, I can really rock it.
Thank you Jane for helping us to paint better and to artist cellar for producing such a fab product. OH and another thing ....the stencils are really thick and hold up well to working in your journal. Beautiful!
And be sure and check out all the other amazing art that these folks have created. I've seen most of them and it truly is wonderful!
Here is another face I painted with the forward facing stencil:
